The Pieces of Summer by Wanda Brunstetter

This Book was supplied to me by Barbour Publishing through Net Galley.

Book Description

Book 4 of an exclusive 6-consecutive-month release Amish serial novel.  In The Pieces of Summer, part four of New York Times Bestselling author, Wanda E. Brunsetter’s The Discovery--A Lancaster County Saga, it’s only been a few months since Meredith Stoltzfus lost her husband, Luke, and deep down, she feels uncomfortable when Jonah Miller comes by often, so willing to help her with things around the house. Meanwhile, as a young, nameless man heals and regains strength in his body, his mind grasps at every image that flits across his memory, desperately trying to recall his former life

My Review

This is the 4th Book in the Series The Discover-A Lancaster County Saga by Wanda Brunstetter.  She is one of the best authors who write about the Amish I have read.  I have a special place in my heart for Wanda.  I picked up one of her books at a book store and that was the first Amish Novel I have ever read.  I was hooked on them.

This book starts out as Luke woke up from a coma he has been in for several months.  The only problem is that he doesn’t know who he is and where he came from.  He doesn’t remember anything at all.  Then back in Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania, Meredith, his wife is pregnant and very uncomfortable, as a lot of us understand.  Jonah continues to come and help her with the chores around the farm.  In the meantime, Luke’s mother comes by and doesn’t like it that he is still hanging around.

This book is a GREAT book and a fast read also.  I just love Wanda Brunstetter’s books.  She is GREAT.

I don’t want to say anything more because I would ruin the story for you.  I hope that you will pickup this book soon and read it.  It is a short story and it moves really fast.

I would definitely suggest this book to my family and friends.  Thank you Wanda for giving us Amish Fiction readers a GREAT series.  Thank you Barbour Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read this book and give this review.

I also learned that the portions assigned to the Levites had not been given to them, and that all the Levites and musicians responsible for the service had gone back to their own fields. So I rebuked the officials and asked them, “Why is the house of God neglected?” Then I called them together and stationed them at their posts. – Nehemiah 13:10-11 (NIV) :)

The Promise Box by Tricia Goyer

This Book was supplied to me by Tricia Goyer’s 2013 Launch Team for a review in return. Book Description Every year, young Amish men descend on the cozy little town of West Kootenai, Montana, arriving in the spring to live there for six months and receive 'resident' status for the hunting season in the fall. They arrive as bachelors, but go home with brides! In The Promise Box, the second book of best-selling author Tricia Goyer's Seven Brides for Seven Bachelors series, Lydia Wyse, a book editor from Seattle who grew up Amish, returns to the small community of West Kootenai to give comfort to her father after her mother's death. She is drawn back to the familiar Amish ways after finding her mother's most precious possession, a Promise Box of prayers and scripture. What her publisher sees, though, is an opportunity for a sensational 'tell-all' book about the Amish. Lydia soon finds herself falling in love with Amish bachelor Gideon Hooley. She wants nothing more than to forget her past and look forward to a future as an Amish bride. But will the pain of her childhood---and her potential betrayal of her community---keep her from committing her whole heart? My Review This is the 2nd Book in the Series “Seven Brides for Seven Bachelors” by Tricia Goyer. I read the first one and this one in my opinion was a lot better than even the first book. This book kept your attention from the turning of the first page. I thoroughly loved it. This is a story about Lydia Wyse, who was raised Amish but leaves the Amish to Englisch. When she hears that her Mem has passed away, she goes back and attends her Mem’s funeral with all hopes of returning to Seattle where she works and lives. But, when she gets there, God starts working with her heart and it is just amazing how God works in our lives, Praise God. Anyway, after the funeral, she stays for a while and her Dat gives her a Promise Box full of her Mem’s memories and writings. After reading these, she wants to stay there. In the meantime, she meets Gideon Hooley. He has secrets and so does Lydia. It is amazing how the Good Lord works through both of their lives and how they each individually work them out. This is such a GREAT story and I just don’t know how much more I can say that. GOD works in mysterious ways. I won’t say anything else, I don’t want to spoil the book for you. But, you know you really need to pickup this book, I loved it so much, what more can I say? Thank you Tricia Goyer for writing such a GREAT book, I couldn’t hardly put it down. Thank you also for giving me the opportunity to read it and give my review. I would suggest this book to my family and friends.

Scent of Lilacs by Ann Gabhart

This Book was supplied to me by Revell Publishers for a review in return. Book Description After the summer of 1964, life for Jocie Brooke will never be the same. Life-changing events rarely happen in quiet Hollyhill, Kentucky, and when they do, they are few and far between. But for young Jocie Brooke and her family, they happen all at once during the humid summer of 1964. Though on the surface things are just fine, it seems like everyone in Jocie’s life has something they’re not saying, something they’re hiding from her–and from themselves. As Jocie digs into her family’s past, she stirs up a whirlwind of discoveries. Will she find the answers everyone so desperately needs? Or will her questions lead to truths better left hidden? Combining unforgettable characters, true-to-life struggles, and the perfect dose of humor and nostalgia, this riveting story from bestselling author Ann Gabhart explores the very essence of new life and love. My Review This book is the first book of Ann Gabhart’s I have ever read. It was a pretty good book and I say that because it was just too slow moving for me. I like fast moving stories and this one just wasn’t that way for me. But, it did turn out to be a really good book. This book is about Jocie and her father who is trying to be an aspiring preacher. The characters in this book were great once you got past the first half of the book. I laughed and cried while reading the book. Jocie is mother less, since her mother left with Jocie’s sister when Jocie was really small. Jocie and her father have not heard from them and then they have surprises and discoveries start to happen in the book. I was truly glad when all of this information about the story starting picking up speed. Ann is truly a GREAT author. I would definitely suggest this book to my family and friends, even though it was slow. Thank you Revell Publishers, for giving me the opportunity to read this book and give this review.
