Christmas at Holly Hill by Martha Rogers

Book Description

It is October 1898, and Clayton Barlow has just returned home after serving time in prison for his part in a bank robbery. His family welcomes him, but the townspeople are skeptical. Bored with life in the small town but determined to make a new start, he goes to work with his father, hoping to regain the town’s trust.

Clayton recognizes the schoolteacher at the Prairie Grove School as his childhood friend, Merry Lee Warner, and old feelings surface. Still, he doubts that he could ever get a woman like Merry to love him.
As the townspeople prepare for Christmas, their suspicions about Clayton lead to trouble. Will the trusting heart of an unlikely new friend be enough to restore Clayton’s relationships with his neighbors and reunite him with God and Merry?

My Review

This book is 6th book in the Winds Across the Prairie.  I have read almost all of Martha Rogers books and believe you me, if you have not read her books, you really need to.  This book keeps your attention from the very first page and it is so good that you will not want to put it down.

This book is about Clayton Barlow and Merry Warner.  When they were 16 years old, Merry really liked Clay but Clay got himself in trouble with the law and went to prison for 5 years.  During that time, Merry left Prairie Grove, Kansas, but she is back and she is a schoolteacher.  Clay returns from prison but some people in the town are standoffish towards him and he is afraid of getting close to Merry because of what that would do for her reputation.

In the meantime, Clay learns that Merry’s family now runs Holly Hill which is an orphanage for children and he is very impressed how Merry deals with the children and it just hits that soft spot in his heart.

I won’t say anything else, I don’t want to spoiI the book for you.  I just loved this book, Martha Rogers is one of the best authors ever.  You will not be sorry if you will pick up this book soon and read it.  I couldn’t’ hardly put it down.  Thank you, Martha for giving us all a GREAT story.

You would love this book if you are from Kansas or Oklahoma, I know I sure did.  Of course since I live in Oklahoma, this series hit a spot in my heart.  I love my Oklahoma roots.

Todays Shadows by Becky Melby

This Book was supplied to me by Barbour Publishing through NetGalley for a review in return.

Book Description

Follow grad student Heather Conrad into a forgotten past as her house-sitting venture goes awry. Last minute changes leave Heather in charge of her former boss’s lakeside Victorian mansion and six-year-old daughter. But the surprises have just begun. Soon startling discoveries convince Heather that something just isn’t right around the house. . When she stumbles on a hidden stairway, the past juts into the present—altering the course of Heather’s own future.

My Review

This book is 3rd book in the Lost Sanctuary Series by Becky Melby.  This is the first book of Becky Melby’s I have ever read and believe you me, it won’t be the last.  She is a GREAT author, she keeps you so interested in the book from the very first page of the book.  I didn’t read the first 2 books of the series, but I didn’t miss them at all.

This book is about Heather Conrad who decides to help out a friend and house sit her new house while Natalie Brooks (Heather’s friend) is away.  Natalie has a daughter, Izzy, who I just absolutely fell in love with.  But when Heather arrives, she didn’t know she would be having Izzy around but she manages.  In the meantime, she meets a security guard, Ryan Tobin.  Then Izzy starts looking around the old house, and she finds a lot of old treasure chests and other historical events surround those trunks or chests.   They also find rooms  and doors and what they find is unbeleiveable.

This book also goes back to the time period of 1912 and tells Maggie Parker’s life story as well.  She is a maid and thinks she is in love with her employer’s son, Richard.  How that unfolds will surprise you, it sure did me.

I won’t say anything else, I don’t want to spoiI the book for you.  I just loved this book, Becky is one of the best authors ever.  You will not be sorry if you will pick up this book soon and read it.  I couldn’t’ hardly put it down.  Thank you, Becky for giving us all a GREAT story.

Thank you Barbour Publishing, for giving me the opportunity to read this book and give this review.

A Home for Lydia by Vannetta Chapman

This Book was supplied to me by Harvest House Publishers through NetGalley for a review in return.

Book Description

Aaron Troyer simply wants to farm like his father and grandfather before him. But instead he finds himself overseeing the family's small group of guest cabins nestled along the banks of Pebble Creek. That also means he must work with the cabins' housekeeper, Lydia Fisher.

Lydia is the most outspoken Amish woman Aaron has ever met, and she has strong opinions about how the guest cabins are to be run. She also desperately needs this job. Though sparks fly between boss and employee at first, when the cabins are robbed, nothing is more important to Aaron than making sure Lydia is safe.
My Review

This book is the book 2 in the Pebble Creek Amish Series by Vannetta Chapman.  I love Vannetta’s books and if you like her as well as I do, you will not be disappointed.

This book is about Lydia Fisher and Aaron Troyer.  Lydia has worked for Aaron’s uncle for a while trying to maintain the cabins.  When Aaron’s uncle passes away, Aaron Troyer comes to Pebble Creek Wisconsin.  Lydia has issues and so does Aaron when the 2 of them meet.  They both have to get through these issues and they do.

They both work together and at first, they don’t get along at all, it is almost like they hate each other but really don’t.  How God brings these 2 people together is amazing.  Then Miriam Miller is scared when her mamm gets sick and Miriam is so afraid that her mamm is going to die, but she doesn’t.  The Lord pulls her through.  But what Miriam has to go through, it is only the work of the Lord saying “Trust Me”.  I’ve been there before when I had to put all my trust in him and he whispered “Trust Me”.

It is such a GREAT book, I know that you will want to read this.  I loved it and thank you Vannetta for giving us all such a GREAT book to read and give a review on.

I won’t say anything else, I don’t want to spoil the book for you.  I really would suggest this book to read, it is a GREAT one.  I couldn’t’ hardly put it down.  I would definitely suggest this book to my family and friends.  Thank you Vannetta for giving us this story.

Thank you Harvest House, for giving me the opportunity to read this book and give this review.

The Inn at Rose Harbor by Debbie Macomber

Book Description

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Debbie Macomber comes a heartwarming new series based in the Pacific Northwest town of Cedar Cove, where a charming cast of characters finds love, forgiveness, and renewal behind the doors of the cozy Rose Harbor Inn.

Jo Marie Rose first arrives in Cedar Cove seeking a sense of peace and a fresh start. Coping with the death of her husband, she purchases a local bed-and-breakfast—the newly christened Rose Harbor Inn—ready to begin her life anew. Yet the inn holds more surprises than Jo Marie can imagine.

Her first guest is Joshua Weaver, who has come home to care for his ailing stepfather. The two have never seen eye to eye, and Joshua has little hope that they can reconcile their differences. But a long-lost acquaintance from Joshua’s high school days proves to him that forgiveness is never out of reach and love can bloom even where it’s least expected.

The other guest is Abby Kincaid, who has returned to Cedar Cove to attend her brother’s wedding. Back for the first time in twenty years, she almost wishes she hadn’t come, the picturesque town harboring painful memories from her past. And while Abby reconnects with family and old friends, she realizes she can only move on if she truly allows herself to let go.

My Review

This book is one of many that I have read by Debbie Macomber.  She is one of my favorite authors of all time.  I read all of her earlier series in Cedar Cove and I was so excited to read this one as well.  Thank you Debbie for giving us all a GREAT book to read and I am hoping it will be a series.  I just love Debbie’s work.

The story starts out as Jo Marie Rose finds love finally and before long, she finds herself a war widow.  So, she decides with nudging from Paul Rose, her husband, to start a Bed and Breakfast and decides to move to Cedar Cove, Washington.  Then after she opens the B&B, she has 2 guests who have issues that they have to deal with along with JO Marie.  There is a handyman who Jo Marie has met and he is dealing with loss of some kind as well.  I just loved this story and hope everyone will pickup this book.

This book is so good, I could go on and on but I won’t or else I will spoil it for you.

This book is one of the best ones I have ever read.  I would definitely recommend this book to my family and friends.  This kept my attention from the first page to the last page.

Happy Wonderful Sunday!!!!!

Tom MacGilliver, an officer in the 908th Engineer Aviation Battalion in North Africa. When both are transferred to Algeria, the two are poised to meet face to face for the first time. Combining excellent research and attention to detail with a flair for romance, Sarah Sundin brings to life the perilous challenges of WWII aviation, nursing, and true love.

My Review

This book is the first book of Sarah Sundin’s that I have read and I guarantee you, it will not be the last one either. She is a GREAT author about World War II.

This book is about Mellie Blake, a Nurse in WWII and Lt. Tom MacGilliver and how they meet is amazing. They book go through a lot of trials, Mellie with not knowing how to make friends even with girls.  couldn't imagine that at all.  I always have had a lot of friends.  Then there is Tom, having to deal with issues about his father.  They meet through writing letters to each other; and how the Lord brings them together, only he can do. They become very close and good friends. As the book goes on, they eventually have to meet and who knows what happens next. I won’t say anything more so I don’t spoil it for you.

This book is one of the best ones I have ever read. I would definitely recommend this book to my family and friends. This kept my attention from the first page to the last page.

The Guest Book by Mary Beth Whalen

This Book was supplied to me by Zondervan Publishers through NetGalley for a review in return.

Book Description

When Macy Dillon was five years old her father encouraged her to draw a picture in the guestbook of a Carolina beach house. The next year, Macy returned to discover a drawing by an unidentified little boy on the facing page. Over the next eleven years the children continue to exchange drawings ... until tragedy ends visits to the beach house altogether. During her final trip to Sunset, Macy asks her anonymous friend to draw her one last picture and tells him where to hide the guest book in hopes that one day she will return to find it---and him. Twenty-five years after that first picture, Macy is back at Sunset Beach---this time toting a broken family and a hurting heart. One night, alone by the ocean, Macy asks God to help her find the boy she never forgot, the one whose beautiful pictures touched something deep inside of her. Will she ever find him? And if she does, will the guestbook unite them or merely be the relic of a lost childhood?

My Review

This book is the first book of Mary Beth Whalen that I have read and I guarantee you, it will not be the last one either. She is a GREAT author and I want to read more of her books.

This book is about Macy who has a daughter, Emma. When Emma was born, her father, Chase left Macy and to me, that is just not a father. But, after 5 years, he returns but Macy is just not so sure about him. In the meantime, Macy’s mother decides she wants to return to Sunset Beach. Macy’s dad has been gone for 10 years and I think her mom just wants to move on finally.

Macy remembers going to Sunset Beach when she is a little girl. This all stems around a Guest Book, because of the pictures that Macy drew and another little boy would do the same. But they don’t know each other. It is a wonderful adventure for Macy.

This book is one of the best ones I have ever read. I would definitely recommend this book to my family and friends. This kept my attention from the first page to the last page. I loved it also, because of most of the story is at the Beach. I can’t read more books by Mary Beth Whalen.

Thank you Zondervan Publishers for giving me a chance to read and review this WONDERFUL book. Thank you, Mary Beth, for giving us such a GREAT book to read. You are wonderful.

The Bridge by Karen Kingsbury

This Book was supplied to me by Simon & Schuster Publishers through NetGalley for a review in return.

Book Description

Five years ago, Molly Allen left her heart in Tennessee when she walked away from the man she can't forget. Ryan Kelly spends much of his time in Franklin's bookstore, remembering the hours he and Molly once spent there. But when tragedy and trouble threaten to close the shop for good, what miracles will unfold?

My Review

This book is a stand alone book by a GREAT author, Karen Kingsbury.  She is one of the best authors, in my opinion.  I have read almost all of her books and I just can’t say enough. This book is not a long book but it is so GREAT that I wished it went on and on.  Karen draws you into all her books as soon as you start reading the book.   This book is about second chances in life.  God does give us second chances, I do believe that.

This is about Molly and Ryan.  They are college students and always wind up at The Bridge bookstore and read to each other.  There is just something about The Bridge and when Charlie, the owner of the bookstore has a terrible accident and almost dies, all of the people who he has known throughout his career shows up so he can open up the shop again.  Then, as the story goes on, Ryan and Molly see each other after 7 years.

I had better not tell you anything more about the book because I don’t want to spoil it for you. I love Karen Kingsbury’s books because she always show how the characters intertwine and how they accept Jesus as their personal savior.

Thank you Simon & Schuster Publishers for giving me a chance to read and review this WONDERFUL book. Thank you, Karen Kingsbury for giving us all a good book to read and thank you Jesus for giving us all such a GREAT author in Karen.

The River Rose by Gilbert Morris

This Book was supplied to me by B&H Publishers through NetGalley for a review in return.

Book Description

Life on the Mississippi in the 1850s is filled with dreams---and disappointments! In The River Rose, widow Jeanne Bettencourt struggles to provide for her young daughter. Things begin to look up when she unexpectedly inherits a steamboat. But there's another claim on the estate! Can faith help Jeanne navigate the swirling waters of her feelings?

My Review

This book is the first book of Gilbert Morris that I have read and I guarantee you, it will not be the last one either. He absolutely wraps you into this book from the first page.

This book was so good. I know that it is suppose to be all about Jeanne Bettencourt but her daughter who is about 5 or 6 years old, grabbed my heart strings. What a precious little girl, I just fell in love with her.

This story tells the story of Jeanne Bettencourt and how she tries to make a living for her and her daughter, Marvel. They live in a rundown housing district and she is a maid who works at the Gayoso Hotel. Then she is confronted by the lawyer and learns that she and Clint Hardin inherit the River Boat, she owns half and he owns the other half. She is a good Christian woman and doesn’t know about living on the boat with a man but she decides that her and Marvel will live in a cabin.

As the story goes on, Jeanne is dating a man who stays at the hotel she use to work at and Clint starts to fall for her. He has to hold his feelings in but eventually things change. This is a GREAT book, one that I would suggest to my family and friends. I loved this book so much and that little Marvel was wonderful, a very special child in my opinion. If I was you, I would most definitely pickup this book.

I had better not tell you anything more about the book because I don’t want to spoil it for you. I think that Gilbert Morris is a GREAT author and one that everyone should read.

Thank you B&H Publishers for giving me a chance to read and review this WONDERFUL book. Thank you, Gilbert Morris for giving us all a good book to read and learn how Jesus moves. And oh my goodness, how he does move because that is what he wants is to have a relationship with him.

Braised Chicken Thighs

I thought this looked really good.

We like the diversity of this one-dish winner. First, because Braised Chicken Thighs Dinner is a change from roast. Second, because it uses chicken thighs. They have so much more flavor than breasts.

  • 4 new potatoes (about 1 pound), cut into 1/4-inch slices
  • 2 cups baby carrots

  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine (See Note)
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 6 bone-in, skinned chicken thighs (1-1/2 to 1-3/4 pounds)
Instructions
  1. Coat a 6-quart round slow cooker with cooking spray. Add onion then top with potatoes and carrots.

When a Woman Overcomes Life's Hurts by Cindi McMenamin

This Book was supplied to me by Harvest House Publishers for a review in return.

Book Description

Author Cindi McMenamin's bestseller When Women Walk Alone (more than 100,000 copies sold) confirms her gift for encouraging women who are journeying through difficult seasons. In her newest book, she offers help for women who are dealing with wounds from unresolved issues in their past.

When a Woman Overcomes Life's Hurts explores the kinds of hurt women experience and offers gracious, biblical counsel on how and where to find healing. Cindi shares the faulty thinking that often accompanies life's wounds and replaces it with truths every woman needs to know about how God views her. She takes women from

My Review

This book is the first book of Cindi McMenamin that I have read and I guarantee you, it will not be the last one either. Cindi is very good author telling her stories about several different women.

She explains what the women go through and how God is there to help them. There are some that question God’s existence and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt he is there for you in time of trouble. Our God is an AWESOME God. I love you Jesus. Cindi is a great author on this type of subject. I was just thinking after I read her book that some churches could use this book for women who are hurting at church. Just a thought. Hmmmm.

I work with some women who are going through some rough things, such as divorce, contemplating divorce, etc. I do believe I am going to pass this book along to them.

Thank you Harvest House Publishers for giving me a chance to read and review this WONDERFUL book. Thank you, Cindi McMenamin for giving us all a good book to read and learn how Jesus works and how much he loves us.  I just have to say this one thing, “Jesus does not move, we do”. Just a thought.

Where Love Grows by Jerry Eicher

This Book was supplied to me by Harvest House Publishers through NetGalley for a review in return.

Book Description

Attend the wedding of Teresa, the young Englisha girl who has come home with Susan Hostetler to learn the ways of the Amish---and in fact to become Amish herself.

But Teresa is not the only young woman to find romance in these pages. Susan, long estranged from Thomas Stoll, the young man she had intended to marry from her childhood, reunites with him..just as another man appears on the scene with designs on her heart. Which man is the one Da Hah has chosen for her?

My Review

This Book is the third and final book in Fields of Home Series by Jerry Eicher.  Jerry is one of the best Amish authors I have ever read.  I know that Jerry grew up Amish but never dreamed he could capture the hearts of the women like he does.

This book starts up where Book 2 left off.  Teresa is in the process of getting things going for her marriage to James.  They get married and Susan Hostetler, who is her close friend, breaks up with Thomas.  He is not very thoughtful in my opinion.  He breaks up with Susan on the night of Teresa’s wedding.  As the book goes on, there are other things that happen to the Hostetlers, but will not say anymore because I don’t want to spoil the book for you.

I just want to say this is one of those books that once you start reading it, you definitely can’t put it down.  It will grab you from the start to the end.  I loved this whole series, thank you Jerry Eicher for giving us readers such a GREAT series and this book is just GREAT.  I didn’t’ want it to end.  But I know it has to.

Thank you Harvest House for giving me the chance to read and review on this book.  It was such a Good Book that I would most definitely suggest this book to my friends and family.

Hope Springs by Kim Cash Tate

This Book was supplied to me by Thomas Nelson Publishers through NetGalley for a review in return.

Book Description

Hope Springs, North Carolina, is the epitome of small town life-a place filled with quiet streets where families have been friends for generations, a place where there's not a lot of change. Until three women suddenly find themselves planted there for a season.

Janelle hasn't gone back to Hope Springs for family reunions since losing her husband. But when she arrives for Christmas and learns that her grandmother is gravely ill, she decides to extend the stay. It isn't long before she runs into her first love, and feelings that have been dormant for more than a decade are reawakened.

My Review

This book is the first book of Kim Cash Tate’s that I have read and I guarantee you, it will not be the last one either. She has a way of intertwining everyone into her story, you feel like you are there.

I love how Kim just draws you into her stories and this one is GREAT. I felt very close to Grandma Geri because she reminded me of what my grandma would have been like if she had lived long enough. I was only 7 when she passed away.

This story intertwines Janelle, Stephanie and Libby and I love how Kim just brings them so close together and how Jesus changes their lives. At first, I felt sorry for Janelle since she lost her husband and has to raise her kids. But, as the story goes on, you can see Jesus working in her heart. I thoroughly love that.

I grew really close to all of them, but I think I loved Grandma Geri the best. She was struggling through some pretty deep issues and I won’t tell you what they are because that would spoil it for you. She gets cancer and what she endures is amazing but she never left the Lord, if anything she grew closer.

Thank you Thomas Nelson Publishers for giving me a chance to read and review this WONDERFUL book. Thank you, Kim Cash Tate for giving us all a good book to read and learn how Jesus moves. I just have to say this one thing, “Jesus does not move, we do”. Just a thought.

I would definitely suggest this book to my family and friends.

Happy Glorious Sunday!!!!!

Veil of Pearls by Mary Lu Tyndall

This Book was supplied to me by Barbour Publishers through NetGalley for a review in return.

Book Description

After escaping her vicious owner in Barbados, runaway slave Adalia blends in with the myriad of emigrants flooding Charleston, South Carolina, in 1812. That is, until the handsome son of a rich landowner sweeps her into the elite's extragavant, pampered lifestyle. But when her master finds her, will her new world come crashing down?

My Review

This book is the first book of Mary Lu Tyndall and I guarantee you, it will not be the last one either. She has a way of intertwining everyone into her story, you feel like you are there.

The book starts out at Barbados in December 1811. Althea (Adalia) is a slave to Sir Walter in Barbados. She is so sick and tired of being beaten so dreadfully, she manages to escape his throngs. She makes it to the ship office and makes her way on a ship and heads to Charleston, SC.

Once she is in Charleston, she works with the Father at St. Mary’s. She helps the sick children at the orphanage. Then, a doctor sees her and offers her employment. She accepts his offer and now she has a place to lay her head. Then, she meets Morgan Rutledge, whose father owns a HUGE plantation and the story goes on and on. I won’t say anything else, I don’t want to spoil the book for you.

This is a great story about slavery and I never thought I would side with the slaves, but I did. I really felt sorry for them. This is such a GREAT book, I think everyone should read it. It was so good, I couldn’t put it down at all. I would suggest this book to my family and friends. WONDERFUL BOOK!!!!!!

Thank you to Barbour books and Mary Lu Tyndall for giving me this opportunity to read and give this review on such a wonderful book.

The Memory Jar by Tricia Goyer

This Book was supplied to me by Zondervan Publishers through NetGalley for a review in return.

Book Description

West Kootenai, Montana is known for it's fall hunting season. Amish men "hunting" for brides and a good hunting season, arrive in spring to make sure they have official "residency" for both events!

Sarah Shelter has lived in W. Kootenai for the last ten years and wonders if she will ever fall in love. Since the tragic death of her best friend, she carries her memories in a jar along with the small items connected to them. For just as long, she's also been carrying around her emotions instead of allowing them to penetrate deep into her heart. Will there ever be someone kind and gentle who can break down that wall?

My Review

This book is the first book in the Seven Brides for Seven Bachelor Series by Tricia Goyer.  She is one of the best authors I have had the privilege to read about the Amish.  This book starts in W. Kootenai, Montana.  Sarah Shelter lives and works in W. Kootenai.  She had a really good friend and she was killed and it is hard on Sarah, she thinks no one cares.  She has a jar that she carries with her everywhere she goes.  Then she meets Jathan and she falls for him pretty hard.  He then leaves Montana and has to go back to Ohio, even though he doesn’t want to.  He eventually calls Sarah and asks her to come and help out at the bakery that his mom runs in Ohio.  So, Sarah decides to go.  Things happen and I just can’t let you know what happens.

This book is so GOOD, I would suggest that everyone read this one.  I loved it.  I plan on reading a lot more of Tricia Goyer’s books.  Thanks Tricia, for giving us such great books.  You really need to pickup this book, it is wonderful. Thank you Zondervan, for giving me the opportunity to read this book and give this review.

The Wedding Dress by Rachel Hauck

This Book was supplied to me by Thomas Nelson Publishers through NetGalley for a review in return.

Description

Charlotte can dress any bride to perfection-except herself. When she discovers a vintage mint-condition wedding gown in a battered old trunk, Charlotte embarks on a passionate journey to discover the women who wore the gown before her. Emily in 1912. Mary in 1939. And Hillary in 1968. Each woman teaches Charlotte something about love in her own unique way. Woven within the threads of the beautiful hundred-year-old gown is the truth about Charlotte's heritage, the power of faith, and the beauty of finding true love.

Review

This book is a Great book. This is the first book I have ready by Rachel Hauck, and it will not be the last. I loved this story. It starts out with Charlotte Malone, who is engaged but is not for sure about it. In the meantime, she goes to a mountain to just think, and she winds up in an auction buying an old trunk and the contents are very surprising. She finds a wedding dress in there and the journeys that dress has taken dating back to 1912. It was first worn by Emily and then Mary Grace, Hillary and now it is in Charlotte’s possession. I just loved this book because I would love to trace my roots and see what I find and Rachel takes you on that journey. I loved this saying in the book and just had to share with everyone.  "The Good News is always Good.  It never wears out and is always in style".  Hope everyone enjoys that.

I would suggest this book to my family and friends, which I have already done that. I absolutely couldn’t put it down, Rachel Hauck just draws you into her story and I thoroughly loved it. I hope to read another one of Rachel’s books soon. Thank you, Thomas Nelson for letting me read this book and give it an honest review.

The Struggle by Wanda Brunstetter

This Book was supplied to me by Barbour Publishing through NetGalley for a review in return.

Book Description

Welcome back to Kentucky, where an Amish couple from Lancaster County seeks a new future in the land of tomorrow. When Timothy Fisher decides to move his wife, Hannah, and daughter Mindy to Christian County, where two of his brothers now reside, Hannah is very reluctant to go. Will the new home Timothy builds for them there do anything to lift her spirits? When a tragic accident occurs, Timothy and Hannah are inconsolable. Is an abrupt separation the beginning of the end of their marriage, or will they rally to seize a God-given second chance?

My Review

This book is the 3rd book in the Kentucky Brothers Series by Wanda Brunstetter. I love Wanda’s writing, she is one of the best authors who write on Amish Fiction.

This book begins when Timothy Fisher decides to move his family (himself, Hannah and daughter Mindy) to Kentucky from Pennsylvania, I believe it is in Paradise, Pennsylvania. Hannah is reluctant about moving because she is so close to her Mamm and Timothy thinks this is ruining his marriage. Of course, Mindy is so little, it doesn’t matter to her. Hannah has issues when they arrive in Kentucky and because she doesn’t like it in Kentucky, this causes a strain on their marriage. Actually, in places I wanted to kick her down the dirt road. I feel like she is the one to blame for her and Timothy’s marriage problems.

As life goes on for them Hannah learns to like it in Kentucky and then tragedy strikes. After a while, she leaves and goes to Pennsylvania and stays with her parents. But, she finally returns to Kentucky and then there is an accident. I won’t go any further, but I would suggest this book to all my friends and family. Wanda has another GREAT book and you need to pick it up. You will not be sorry.

Thank you Barbour Publishing, for giving me the opportunity to read this book and give this review.

A Season for Love by Amy Clipston

This Book was supplied to me by Zondervan Publishers through NetGalley for a review in return.

Book Description

Three young women are about to change their lives. Lizzie Anne and Samuel have decided to get married, and Lindsay is about to be baptized in the Amish faith and is courting Matthew. While Katie Kauffman is happy for her friends who seem to have settled their futures, she is also finding herself something of a fifth wheel.

My Review

This book is the fifth and final book in the Kauffman Amish Bakery Series by Amy Clipston. I love Amy’s books, I think I have read everyone of them. She is absolutely one of the most gifted writers about Amish fiction I have ever read.

This book is about Lindsay, Lizzie Anne and Katie. Lindsay returns home to her Aunt Rebecca’s house from Virginia taking care of her other aunt. She surprises everyone upon her arrival. Katie has been helping out and since Lindsay came home, she can go back to the bakery which is where her heart is. In the meantime, Lizzie Anne has been seeing Samuel, Katie’s brother and he proposes to Lizzie Anne and Lindsay starts seeing Matthew and Katie has no one. She starts back at the bakery and starts noticing Jake who is Mennonite and this is a big huge NO in Katie’s household. Her dad does some crazy things, in my opinion. I really felt sorry for Katie. A lot of things happen during these times and I just don’t want to spill the beans for anyone.

I really would suggest this book to read, especially if you have read the 4 previous books. This one is a GREAT book, I couldn’t put it down. I would definitely suggest this book to my family and friends. Thank you Amy for giving us such a great series of books, 5 of them in all. I won’t say anything else, you really need to pickup this book, it is wonderful.

Thank you Zondervan, for giving me the opportunity to read this book and give this review.

A Promise for Miriam by Vannetta Chapman

This Book was supplied to me by Harvest House Publishers through NetGalley for a review in return.

Book Description

Amish schoolteacher Miriam King loves her students. At 26, most women her age are married with children of their own, but she hasn’t yet met anyone who can convince her to give up the Plain school that sits along the banks of Pebble Creek. Then newcomer Gabriel Miller steps into her life, bringing his daughter, an air of mystery, and challenges Miriam has never faced before.

Will Gabe be able to let go of the past that haunts him? He thinks he just wants to be left alone, but the loving and warm community he and his daughter have moved to has other plans for him. After a near tragedy is averted, he hesitantly returns offers of help and friendship, and he discovers he can make a difference to the people of Pebble Creek—and maybe find love again.

My Review

This book is the first book in the Pebble Creek Amish Series by Vannetta Chapman. I love Vannetta’s books and if you like her as well as I do, you will not be disappointed.

This book is about Miriam King and Gabriel Miller. Gabe is from Indiana and has just lost his wife. He has a little girl, Grace and she will warm your heart as she did mine. He decides to leave Indiana and move to Wisconsin with his daughter. In the meantime, Miriam is 26 and she thinks she is too old to marry until she meets Gabe. Sparks fly and Miriam is confused along with Gabe. Also, his daughter, Grace hasn’t talked since losing her mother.

Hiding in Plain Sight by Amy Wallace

This Book was supplied to me by Harvest House Publishers through NetGalley for a review in return.

Book Description

In a quiet town with a thriving Mennonite community, police officer Ashley Walters finds her threadbare faith and way of life challenged by the Plain people whose simple dress and welcoming manner open her eyes to a God she left behind. Peace eludes Ashley until she realizes the answers she seeks aren't found in starting over but in returning to the simple truth that it's God who overcomes the world, not her.

My Review

This book is the first book in the Place of Refuge Series. This is the first book I have ever read by Amy Wallace. I’ll tell you one thing it will not be the last. I loved this book so much, I couldn’t put it down.

Ashley Walters has a lot of issues with her faith and just dealing with her brother’s death. She becomes a police officer to help her deal with some of those issues, but throughout the book, she realizes she needs God to help her. This is one of the best books I have read in a while about how people deal with their faith in God. I think that Amy Wallace shows you that throughout this entire book.

You know all of us have issues, but we all need to just turn to the Lord. I forget about that also, like Ashley did. It just hit home for me.

Through the book, she meets a Mennonite family who she falls in love with. She also starts dating Patrick. It is a GREAT story, one that you will love.

I won’t say anything else, I don’t want to spoil the book for you. I would definitely suggest this book to my friends and family. Again, I love this book and thank you to Harvest House Publishers for giving me an opportunity to review this book.
